Turkmenistan is a fun country! We overstayed our visas and got a one year ban from the country. Thanks to my stay in hospital in Turkey we were running a bit late, got permission from the British Embassy that as long as we got to Ashgabat before our visas expired, they'd be able to extend them. We arrived on the Sunday... visas expired Sunday night. Embassy opened Monday morning... big problem! Took 2 days of form filling to escape deportation and a fine, and we ended up with just a big bill and a one year ban from the country!
