What kind of visa do we need?
Tourist visa wants a tourist voucher from the travel agency, transit wants plane tickets!!!
Russsian visa LOI and vouchers
We had a bit of a problem with these. Thing is we live in sweden, and apparently the russian ambassador here has gotten the idea that using LOIs from the internet is sick, illegal and wrong.
So, instead of going to the embassy we went to a company specialiced in fixing visas for people. We explained our troubles and they agreed to help us, no charge! (in exchange for their logo on our car).
They sent our application to denmark instead, were they apparently have a bit more relaxed attitude.

Re: Russia
We had to get a new russian visa once we reached kazakhstan, since we only had a single entry. We were a bit paranoid about this since we had heard russia implemented som new law saying you could only apply in your native country. However, we had no problems at all, we got our visa in one day, no hassle.
However, it later turned out that the consul was mates with a swedish guy, so we might have got it becaus of that :)
